Waseca Area Caregiver Services Board of Directors

The leadership team at Waseca Area Caregiver Services of Waseca County Minnesota is dedicated to ensuring all people have the opportunity to have pathways for a positive future.

Larry Johnson – Chairman of the Board

Larry has been a part of WACS since 2019 when we first opened back up. Larry is the Board President of the WACS board. Larry is committed to the mission, goals, and policies within the WACS organization. When asked about his favorite part in volunteering he said “I believe it is everyone’s duty to share your gifts  and talents with the community you live in. We don’t know what struggles others are facing from day to day, so it is important to volunteer and help when you are able. Volunteering strengthens a community and allows us to care for others and give them the hope of a better tomorrow.”

Joe Mitzel – Vice Chairman

Joe Mitzel was appointed to assist the chairman in organizing the work programs and ensure within the terms of the council’s scheme of delegation that the programs have been completed.

Joseph Mitzel grew up in Madelia MN, after graduating in 1985 he joined the military. He served in the army for four years and was honorably discharged. He then worked for the Texas Department of corrections for nine years. In 1998, he joined the federal Bureau of Prisons and retired in 2018 after 20 years of service. 

Kyle Tomlinson – Board Secretary

Kyle Tomlinson was appointed to Board Member of Waseca Area Caregiver in March, 2021. He is a fiduciary who steers the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission.

Kyle Tomlinson grew up in England before moving to southern Minnesota in 2018. Kyle and his wife moved to Waseca to start a family two years ago and fell in love with the community. Having been involved in numerous educational and employment endeavors in both Europe and the United States, Kyle is currently studying to become a teacher at Minnesota State University Mankato. Kyle joined in 2021 as a way of giving back to and improving the community and looks forward to fulfilling WACS’ mission.

Minerva Gomez – Treasurer & Board Member

Minerva Gomez was appointed to Board Member of Waseca Area Caregiver in November, 2019. She is a fiduciary who steers the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission. She began serving as treasurer in August 2020.

Pastor Jon Shultz –  Board Member

Jon Shultz was appointed to Board Member of Waseca Area Caregiver in June, 2023.  He is a fiduciary who steers the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission.

John Mansfield – Board Member

John Mansfield was appointed to Board Member of Waseca Area Caregiver in May, 2020. He is a fiduciary who steers the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission.

John Mansfield studied business at the American Business School of Paris in France and lived and worked there for over ten years. I have worked in international sales and in foreign currencies. I hold a master degree from the university of St Thomas and have been self employed for the last several years as a brewery owner. I’ve owned and operated a construction company and been a warehouse manager. I volunteer weekly with meals on wheels and have been teaching at the federal women’s prison for over 3 years. He joined WACS to provide services, and to support veterans and young adults in need of guidance.

Robert Hunter – Board Member

Robert Hunter became Board Secretary of WACS in Dec. 2019; his position is to record the minutes of each board meeting. What actions were voted on and what actions are being taken as a result.
